It’s funny how one idea leads to another. When I took yesterday’s post I thought that the trees looked pretty good against the light grey sky, everything stark and bare. Then I heard the birds, rooks that when together make an amazing amount of noise. I looked up and thought that the rooks and branches in silhouette might look interesting.
I decided to seek out a suitable array of branches that could serve as a kind of frame around some birds. It wasn’t too difficult, except for the fact that whenever I moved, the rooks moved too. I quickly discovered that they don’t sit in one place for long, and the fact that I was moving around (as quietly as I could) wasn’t helping. When I moved, they moved, until I found some sitting in just the right place. I pressed the shutter and off they all flew to a new tree, but I got the picture and am fairly happy with how it turned out.

Nice b&w and a great composition.
Are you familiar with the collective nouns for birds? This shot could rightfully be called “parliament of rooks”.
Nice work. The tree alone was worth a shot or tow but the rooks had depth.
@Peter: sorry I haven’t answered until now. I have just discovered that your comment was caught in the spam queue.
To answer your question, I am aware of the colective nouns for birds and your suggestion is spot on. To be honest it didn’t register as a thought – I just counted the birds
Actually, these birds were more a sub-committee. The real, and very loud, parliament was located a few trees away.
Beautiful and poetic b&W
